none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Before you start taking Dimethyl fumarate , the doctor will take blood tests to check the number of white blood cells and check that the kidneys and liver are working zoster\u00a0(\u00a0shingles\u00a0) can occur during treatment with dimethyl fumarate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>In some cases, serious complications have occurred.\u00a0Talk to your doctor\u00a0immediately if you suspect you have symptoms of\u00a0shingles\u00a0.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>If you think your\u00a0MS\u00a0is getting worse (e.g. weakness or visual disturbances) or if you notice new symptoms, talk to your doctor immediately, as these may be symptoms of a rare\u00a0infection\u00a0of the brain called\u00a0progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy\u00a0(PML).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>PML is a serious condition that can lead to severe disability or death.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>A rare but serious kidney disease (\u00a0Fanconi syndrome\u00a0) has been reported for a medicine containing dimethyl fumarate in combination with other fumaric acid esters, which is used to treat psoriasis (a skin disease).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Talk to your doctor immediately if you have increased urination, are more thirsty and drink more than normal, if your muscles seem weaker, if you break a bone or have pain.\u00a0The doctor may consider investigating this further.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Children and youth:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Dimethyl fumarate is not recommended for use in children and adolescents, because there is limited experience with the use of dimethyl fumarate in this patient group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Other medicines and Dimethyl fumarate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Talk to your doctor or pharmacist\u00a0if you are using, have recently used or plan to use other medicines, in particular:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>medicines containing\u00a0fumaric acid esters\u00a0(fumarates) used to treat psoriasis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>medicines that affect the body&#8217;s immune system,\u00a0including\u00a0other medicines used to treat\u00a0MS\u00a0,\u00a0such as fingolimod, natalizumab, teriflunomide, alemtuzumab, ocrelizumab or cladribine, or some treatments often used against\u00a0cancer\u00a0(rituximab or mitoxantrone).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>medicines that affect the kidneys, including\u00a0some\u00a0antibiotics\u00a0(used to treat\u00a0infections\u00a0), &#8221;\u00a0diuretics&#8221;,\u00a0certain\u00a0types\u00a0of\u00a0painkillers\u00a0( such as ibuprofen and other similar\u00a0anti\u00a0-inflammatory medicines bought without a prescription) and medicines containing\u00a0lithium<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>If you use Dimethyl fumarate at the same time as certain types of\u00a0vaccines\u00a0(\u00a0live vaccines\u00a0), you may get an\u00a0infection\u00a0.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>This should therefore be avoided.\u00a0The doctor will advise whether other forms of vaccines (\u00a0non-live vaccines\u00a0) should be given.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pregnancy and breastfeeding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pregnancy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Do not use Dimethyl fumarate if you are pregnant without first talking to your doctor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Breastfeeding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>It is not known whether the active ingredient in Dimethyl fumarate passes into breast milk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Dimethyl fumarate should not be used during breastfeeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>The doctor will help you decide whether you should stop breast-feeding or stop using Dimethyl fumarate .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>This involves a balancing act between the benefits of breastfeeding for the child and the benefits of treatment for the mother.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How To Use<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Contact a doctor if you are unsure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Starting dose120 mg twice daily:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Take this starting dose for the first 7 days, then take the usual dose.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Usual dose240 mg twice daily:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Dimethyl fumarate should be taken orally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Swallow the capsule whole\u00a0with a little water.\u00a0The capsule should not be split, crushed,
