In case of worsening, the dose can be increased to 4800 mg divided into 2-3 doses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use of Asacol in children:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>There is only limited documentation for the effect on children (aged 6-18).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Children who are 6 years or older<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ulcerative colitis and Crohn&#8217;s disease :<\/p>\n<p>Active disease:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>To be decided individually, starting dose is 30\u201150 mg\/kg\/day in divided doses. Maximum dose: 75 mg\/kg\/day in divided doses. The total dose should not exceed 4 g\/day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Maintenance treatment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>To be decided individually, starting dose is 15\u201130 mg\/kg\/day in divided doses.
