Letrozole is a medication that is used in:<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Adjuvant treatment of women after menopause who have developed early breast cancer that is hormone positive.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Adjuvant treatment of women after menopause who have developed early breast cancer and were previously receiving adjuvant treatment with tamoxifen.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0First and second line treatment of women after menopause with unknown advanced breast cancer or hormone positive breast cancer.<\/p>\n
Do not take Letrozole :<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you are allergic to Letrozole or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you have not reached menopause yet.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you are pregnant.<\/p>\n
Warnings and Precautions :<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood pressure and dizziness.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0This medication may affect your bone density. Your doctor may recommend bone density monitoring.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0This medication may increase your total cholesterol. Your doctor may recommend cholesterol monitoring.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0This medication may cause fatigue, drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or use machinery if you are not feeling well.<\/p>\n
Possible side effects of Letrozole :<\/b><\/p>\n
Possible side effects of Letrozole include allergic reaction, hot flashes, joint pain, flushing, weakness, edema, headache, dizziness, elevated cholesterol levels, sweating and bone pain.<\/p>\n
Other medicines and Letrozole :<\/b><\/p>\n
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medications. Tell your doctor if you are taking tamoxifen (breast cancer medication).<\/p>\n
How to take Letrozole :<\/b><\/p>\n
Postmenopausal women:<\/p>\n
Recommended dose is 2.5 mg orally once daily.<\/p>\n
Patients with cirrhosis (advanced liver disease) or severe liver impairment:<\/p>\n
Recommended dose is 2.5 mg orally every other day.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Take tablets with or without meals.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Take tablet with a full glass of water.<\/p>\n
