Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose.<\/li>\n<li>Sandostatin injection is injected under the skin, into a muscle, or as an infusion into a vein. A healthcare provider will give your first dose and may teach you how to properly use the medication by yourself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Caution &amp; Warnings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you know that you have gallstones now, or have had them in the past; tell your doctor, as prolonged use of Octreotide, may result in gallstone formation.<\/li>\n<li>Your doctor may wish to check your gallbladder periodically.<\/li>\n<li>If you have problems with your blood sugar levels, either too high or too low.<\/li>\n<li>When Octreotide is used to treat bleeding from gastro-esophageal varices; monitoring of blood sugar levels is mandatory.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a history of vitamin B12 deprivation your doctor may wish to check your vitamin B12 level periodically.<\/li>\n<li>If you receive treatment with Octreotide over a long period of time, your doctor may wish to check your thyroid function periodically.
