BRIMONIDINE TARTRATE 0.1% w\/v Eye drops<\/b><\/p>\n
What Brimonidine tartrate is used for:<\/b><\/p>\n
It is used to reduce pressure in the eye in the conditions of glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The medicine may be used alone or in conjunction with another eye drop that reduces pressure in the eye.<\/p>\n
Do not use Brimonidine tartrate:<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Brimonidine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0if you are taking a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors medicine or a tricyclic antidepressants medicine (you should check with your doctor if you are taking any medicines for depression)<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0if you are breast feeding<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0in new born babies or children under 2 years<\/p>\n
Possible side effects:<\/b><\/p>\n
Like all medicines, Brimonidine tartrate\u00a0 can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop throat tightness or swelling of the eyes, face, lips or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you develop hives or itching of the face or body.<\/p>\n
Other medicines and Brimonidine tartrate:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors medicine or any other antidepressants<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0sedative, barbiturate, opiates or hypnotic medicines to help you sleep or to sedate you or are regularly consuming alcohol.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0chlorpromazine, methylphenidate or reserpine (for mental\/personality disorders)<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0pain killers<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0medicines for treating a heart condition or for lowering blood pressure<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0medicines which work in the same way as brimonidine, eg.prazosin and\u00a0 isoprenaline<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0if you are to be given anesthetics, make sure you tell the doctor you are using these eye drops.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Medicines for any condition, even if unrelated to your eye condition<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0or if the dose of any of your current medicine is changed<\/p>\n
How to use Brimonidine tartrate:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.<\/p>\n
The recommended dose is one drop into each affected eye twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. If you are using in combination with another eye drop medicine, wait 5-15 minutes before applying the second eye drop.<\/p>\n
How to store Brimonidine tartrate:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.<\/p>\n
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and label after \u2018EXP\u2019. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.<\/p>\n
Do not store above 25oC.<\/p>\n
Discard within 28 days of opening.<\/p>\n
Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.<\/p>\n
