What Famciclovir is used for<\/b><\/div>\n

Famciclovir is used to prevent or treat outbreaks of genital herpes infections, and to treat cold sores (fever blisters) and shingles (herpes zoster). It is also used to treat recurrent herpes infections in patient with reduced immunity.<\/div>\n
Do not take Famciclovir<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you\u2019re allergic to the active substance Famciclovir, to Penciclovir, or any other component of this medicine.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you are breast-feeding.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n
Warnings and precautions<\/b><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this drug including:<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you have liver or kidney problems.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you have a rare genetic problem with galactose intolerance, a severe lactase deficiency or you do not absorb glucose-galactose.<\/div>\n
This medicine does not stop the genital herpes from spreading to others.<\/div>\n
This medicine may cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how you are affected.<\/div>\n
Possible side effects<\/div>\n
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; blisters; itching; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.<\/div>\n

How to take Famciclovir\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Therapy should be initiated at the first sign or symptom of a recurrent episode (e.g., tingling, itching, burning, pain, or lesion).<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0First episode of genital herpes: 250 mg three times a day for 5 days.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Recurrent episodes of genital herpes: 125 mg twice a day for 5 days.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Suppression (prevention) of the recurrence of genital herpes: 250 mg twice a day.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Shingles: 500 mg three times a day for 7 days.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Cold sores: 1500 mg as a single dose at first sign or symptom.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0In adults with reduced immunity, for genital herpes, cold sores and shingles: 500 mg twice daily for 7-10 days.<\/div>\n

How to store Famciclovir\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Store at room temperature 68 to 77\u00b0F (20 to 25\u00b0C).<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Keep this medicine out of reach of children.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.<\/div>\n
