\nTriptorelin 11.25 mg powder and solvent for suspension for injection (3-month)<\/b><\/p>\n
\nWhat Triptorelin is used for:<\/b><\/p>\n
Triptorelin belongs to a group of medicines called gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. Triptorelin is similar to the gonadotropin releasing hormone which occurs naturally in your body.
\nIn men: Triptorelin lowers the levels of the hormone, testosterone. Both Triptorelin 3mg and 11.25mg are used to treat advanced prostate cancer.
\nIn women: Triptorelin reduces estrogen levels.
\nTriptorelin 3mg is used to treat:
\n<\/b>\u2022\u00a0Endometriosis – a condition in which the tissue that normally lines the uterus grows in other places.
\n\u2022\u00a0Uterine fibroids – abnormal benign growth of cells in your uterus.
\n\u2022\u00a0Female infertility.
\n\u2022\u00a0Early stage hormone responsive breast cancer in pre-menopausal women who have received chemotherapy. Triptorelin is used together with hormone medicines. You will also be asked to take:
\no\u00a0A medicine called \u2018tamoxifen\u2019 \u2013 you will be asked to take this medicine if you are at high risk of the cancer coming back or
\no\u00a0An \u2018aromatase inhibitor\u2019 medicine such as \u2018exemestane\u2019 \u2013 you will have treatment with Triptorelin for at least 6 to 8 weeks before you start taking this medicine.
\nTriptorelin 11.25 mg is used to treat:
\n\u2022\u00a0Endometriosis – a condition in which the tissue that normally lines the uterus grows in other places.
\nIn children: Triptorelin 11.25mg is used to treat puberty that occurs at a very young age (Precocious Puberty).<\/p>\n
Do not take Triptorelin if:<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0If you are allergic to triptorelin or similar types of drugs (other gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
\n\u2022\u00a0If you are a man and your prostate cancer has spread to your spine or if the tumor is pressing on your spine.<\/p>\n
Warnings and precautions:<\/b><\/p>\n
Tell your doctor about all of your health conditions, including, if you have:
\n\u2022\u00a0depressed mood
\n\u2022\u00a0anything wrong with you that affects your bones, such as osteoporosis.
\n\u2022\u00a0diabetes.
\n\u2022\u00a0have any heart or blood vessel conditions.
\n\u2022\u00a0A benign tumor of the pituitary gland that you were unaware of, this may be discovered during treatment with Triptorelin.<\/p>\n
Possible side effects:
\n<\/b>Like All medicines, this medicine can cause side effects although not everybody gets them. In rare cases you may experience a severe allergic reaction. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms such as swallowing or breathing problems, a rash, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue.<\/p>\n
MEN:<\/b>\u00a0Many of the side effects are expected, due to the change in the level of testosterone in your body. These effects include hot flushes, impotence and decreased libido. Other side effects include: weakness, excessive sweating, back pain, pins and needles sensation in the legs, reduced libido, impotence, nausea, dry mouth, pain, bruising, redness and swelling when injected, muscle and bone pain, pain in the arms\/legs, oedema, lower abdominal pain, high blood pressure, allergic reaction, increase in weight, dizziness, headache, loss of libido, depression and mood changes.<\/p>\n
WOMEN:<\/b>\u00a0Many of the side effects are expected to be due to the change in the level of estrogens in your body. Other side effects include: mood swings, difficulty sleeping, breast disorder, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, pain during or after sexual intercourse, painful periods, genital bleeding, pelvic pain, dryness of the vagina, excessive sweating, acne, oily skin, hot flushes, breast pain, muscle cramps, painful joints, weight gain, feeling sick, depression, nervousness, abdominal pain or discomfort, pain, bruising, redness and swelling at injection site, swelling and tenderness, allergic reaction, pain in the arms and legs, dizziness.<\/p>\n
CHILDREN:<\/b>\u00a0Side effects include vaginal bleeding which may occur in girls in the first month of treatment, pain in abdomen, bruising, redness and swelling at injection site, headache, hot flushes, weight gain, acne, hypersensitivity reactions.
\nOther medicines and Triptorelin
\nTell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
\nTriptorelin might interfere with some medicines used to treat heart rhythm problems or might increase the risk of heart rhythm problems when used with some other drugs used for pain relief and part of drug addiction detoxification, certain antibiotics and drugs used for serious mental illnesses.
\nDrugs which increase the level of a hormone called prolactin may react with Triptorelin. Many different kinds of drugs may increase prolactin levels.How to store Triptorelin:<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
\n\u2022\u00a0Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the vial and on the outer box. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
\n\u2022\u00a0Once opened\/reconstituted, immediate use is recommended.
\n\u2022\u00a0This medicine should not be stored above 25\u00b0C.
\n\u2022\u00a0Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
