Lamifen 1% W/W Cream 15 gm

Medication name: Lamifen 1% w/w Cream contains Terbinafine hydrochloride (1%), a topical antifungal agent used to treat various fungal infections of the skin. Each tube contains 15 grams of cream for external use only.

Drug class: Topical antifungal

Use: Lamifen is used to treat athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), ringworm (tinea corporis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and fungal infections of the hands or groin.

It helps relieve symptoms such as itching, burning, cracking, and scaling of the skin.

How it works: Terbinafine works by blocking the enzyme squalene epoxidase, which is essential for the formation of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes.

This leads to fungal cell death and stops the infection from spreading.

Dosage and administration:

• Clean and dry the affected area before applying.

• Apply a thin layer of Lamifen Cream to the affected area and surrounding skin once or twice daily, as directed by your doctor.

• Rub in gently until absorbed.

• Continue treatment for the full duration, even if symptoms improve (usually 1–2 weeks, or longer for certain infections).

• Wash hands after application.

Side effects: Common side effects include mild burning, itching, dryness, redness, or irritation at the application site

. Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or swelling may occur.

Precautions:

• For external use only.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and open wounds.

• Do not apply to broken or inflamed skin unless advised by a doctor.

• Consult your doctor before using if pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Stop use if severe irritation or allergic reaction develops.
