Nizoral 2% Shampoo 100 ml

Medication name: Nizoral 2% Shampoo contains Ketoconazole (2%), a broad-spectrum antifungal agent formulated to treat fungal infections of the scalp and skin.

Each bottle contains 100 mL of medicated shampoo for external use.

Drug class: Antifungal (Imidazole derivative)

Use: Nizoral Shampoo is used to treat and prevent dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and fungal scalp infections (such as pityriasis versicolor).

It helps reduce flaking, scaling, itching, and redness of the scalp.

How it works: Ketoconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes.

This leads to fungal cell death, helping restore a healthy scalp environment and control symptoms of infection.

Dosage and administration:

• Apply enough shampoo to cover the affected scalp area.

• Lather and leave on the scalp for 3–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

• Use twice a week for 2–4 weeks for treatment, then once every 1–2 weeks to prevent recurrence.

• Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

Side effects: Common side effects include mild scalp irritation, dryness, or oiliness. Rarely, hair texture changes or discoloration may occur, particularly in chemically treated hair.
