Medication name: Champix 1 mg Tablets (56 tablets) contain Varenicline tartrate, a prescription medication used to help adults quit smoking by reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Use: Champix is indicated for smoking cessation in adults.

It assists in breaking the nicotine addiction by reducing cravings and lessening the satisfaction derived from smoking, making it easier to quit permanently.

How it works:
Varenicline works by partially stimulating nicotine receptors in the brain:

• It mimics nicotine’s effects to relieve withdrawal symptoms.

• At the same time, it blocks nicotine from cigarettes from binding to these receptors, thereby reducing the pleasurable effects of smoking.

Dosage and administration:

• Days 1–3: 0.5 mg once daily.

• Days 4–7: 0.5 mg twice daily.

• Day 8 onward: 1 mg twice daily for 12 weeks (or as prescribed).

• Take with food and a full glass of water.

• Choose a quit date 1–2 weeks after starting Champix.

• A gradual reduction method may also be used if abrupt quitting is difficult.

Side effects: Common side effects include nausea, abnormal dreams, insomnia, headache, and irritability.

Less common effects may include depression, mood changes, or anxiety.
