Use:
This medication is used to control high blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
It helps improve the body’s response to insulin, decreases glucose production in the liver, and enhances glucose uptake by muscles.
Glucare XR is often prescribed when diet and exercise alone are insufficient, and it may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines to prevent long-term complications such as nerve, kidney, or heart damage.

How it works:
The active ingredient, metformin hydrochloride, lowers blood sugar by reducing hepatic glucose output, slowing intestinal glucose absorption, and increasing insulin sensitivity.
The extended-release (XR) formulation allows gradual absorption of the medication, ensuring smoother, longer-lasting blood sugar control while minimizing stomach irritation.

Dosage and administration:
The usual starting dose is one tablet (500 mg) once daily, preferably taken with the evening meal to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.
Your doctor may gradually increase the dose depending on your blood sugar response, up to a maximum of 2000 mg daily.
Swallow the tablet whole with water — do not crush, chew, or split it.
Take it consistently at the same time each day for best results.
