Use:
This medication is used to treat constipation in adults and adolescents, including cases of long-term or chronic constipation.
It helps soften hard stools and stimulate regular bowel movements without causing sudden urgency or abdominal cramps.
It may also be prescribed for relieving fecal impaction (severe stool buildup in the colon).

How it works:
The active ingredient, macrogol (polyethylene glycol), works by retaining water in the stool, which increases its volume and makes it softer and easier to pass.
Movicol also contains electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, and bicarbonate that help maintain the body’s normal fluid and electrolyte balance during treatment.
This ensures gentle, natural relief without dehydration or electrolyte loss.

Dosage and administration:
Dissolve the contents of one sachet in about 125 ml (half a glass) of water and drink immediately.
For adults and children over 12 years, the usual dose is one to three sachets per day, depending on the severity of constipation.
For fecal impaction, up to eight sachets per day may be used as directed by a doctor.
Treatment should continue until normal bowel function is restored.
Do not exceed the prescribed dose and do not use for more than 14 days without medical advice.

Side effects:
Movicol is generally well tolerated.
Mild side effects may include bloating, gas, nausea, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea.
These usually resolve with dose adjustment or after stopping the medication.
Seek medical attention if you experience severe abdominal pain, allergic rash, or swelling.

Precautions:
Do not use if allergic to macrogol or any of the ingredients.
