Mycohael 20 mg Oral Gel 40 gm

Medication name: Mycohael Oral Gel 40 g contains Miconazole (20 mg/g), an antifungal and antibacterial oral gel used to treat infections in the mouth and throat.

Drug class: Antifungal (Imidazole derivative)

Use: Mycohael Oral Gel is used to treat and prevent oral fungal infections, including oral thrush (oropharyngeal candidiasis) caused by Candida albicans.

It also helps relieve symptoms such as white patches, soreness, redness, and irritation in the mouth.

How it works: Miconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes.

This weakens the fungal cell wall, causing cell death. It also has mild antibacterial properties, which help prevent secondary bacterial infections in the mouth.

Dosage and administration:

• Apply the gel four times daily after meals.

• Using a clean finger or applicator, spread the gel evenly over the affected area.

• Keep the gel in contact with the affected mucosa as long as possible—do not swallow immediately.

• For infants and young children, apply small amounts to avoid choking.

• Continue treatment for at least one week after symptoms disappear.

Side effects: Common side effects include mild burning, irritation, nausea, or altered taste.

Rarely, allergic reactions such as swelling, rash, or difficulty breathing may occur.

Precautions:

• For oral use only—do not swallow large amounts.

• Use with caution in patients with liver disease or those taking warfarin (increased bleeding risk).

• Consult your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Stop using if an allergic reaction or severe irritation occurs.
