How it works:
Alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) is a compound that is created naturally in the body but tends to diminish with age. In supplement form, AKG can be attached to a calcium salt (Ca-AKG), which has been studied for its role in supporting metabolic function and longevity.
Ca-AKG is involved in stimulating protein synthesis and energy production in the body, as it is a vital component of the Krebs cycle – the process that creates ATP (energy) from food. Ca-AKG is also a source of the essential amino acids needed to make collagen, which is a protein that helps to support bone and muscle health.
Ca-AKG facilitates our internal recycling process known as autophagy, which removes dysfunctional cells, cell parts and proteins from the body. Autophagy tends to decrease with age, so Ca-AKG may be able to help support this process.
Adding calcium to AKG helps to slow the absorption of AKG allowing it to work longer in the body.
Suggested use
Take 2 capsules in the morning, with or without food, or as recommended by your healthcare professional.
