Travoprost 40 micrograms/mL Eye drops solution
What Travoprost is used for:
- Travoprost is a medication that is used to decrease high pressure of the eye in children aged 2 months and above, adolescents and adults.
- An increase in your eye pressure may lead to glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye that can lead to loss of vision).
- Travoprost may be used alone or in combination with other eye drops (e.g. beta-blockers), that also help in reducing eye pressure.
Do not use Travoprost:
- If you are allergic to Travoprost or any of the ingredients in this medicine.
- Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
Possible side effects:
- Very common side effects include redness of the eye.
- Common side effects include eye pain, eye discomfort, dry eye, eye irritation, changes in the color of the iris and eye itching.
- Uncommon side effects include corneal disorder, eye discharge and tearing, light sensitivity, eyelid itching, inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, eye inflammation, eyelid crusting, clouding of the eye, abnormal turning outward of the lower eyelid, iris inflammation, inflammation inside the eye, eye surface inflammation with or without surface damage, blurred vision, eyelids inflammation, eyelid redness, growth of eyelashes, swelling around the eye, headaches, skin darkening, hair growth, increased allergic signs, irregular heartbeat, abnormal hair texture, stuffy nose, darkening of the skin around the eye, cough and throat irritation.
- The most common side effects seen with the use of this medicine in children and adolescents are growth of eyelashes and eye redness.
Other medicines and Travoprost:
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medications including eye drops.
- If you are using more than one eye drop solution, make sure to administer each at least five minutes apart to avoid precipitation of the eye drop.
How to apply Travoprost:
Adults
- Recommended dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily at night.
- Do not apply your eye drops in both eyes unless prescribed by your doctor.
Children
- The recommended dose in children 2 months of age and older is the same as the one recommended for adults.
- Use of this medicine is not recommended in children under 2 months of age.
How to store Travoprost:
- Discard the bottle 4 weeks after its opening even if it is not empty and use a new bottle.
- Write down the date at which you opened the bottle (for the first time) on the available space of the carton box.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
- This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
- Do not use beyond the expiry date mentioned on the box.
- Keep away from light.
- Do not dispose in the wastewater or household waste.
- Ask your pharmacist how you can dispose medicines you no longer need.
