Use:
This medication is used to relieve occasional constipation in children.
It helps stimulate bowel movements and soften stools, providing gentle and effective relief when oral laxatives are not suitable.
It may also be used to empty the bowel before medical procedures or examinations under medical supervision.

How it works:
The active ingredient, bisacodyl, acts directly on the intestinal wall to stimulate the nerves in the colon.
This increases bowel muscle contractions and promotes movement of stool through the intestines.
It also helps retain water in the bowel, softening the stool for easier passage.
The suppository form provides local action and typically works within 15 to 60 minutes.

Dosage and administration:
For children aged 2 to 10 years, insert one suppository (5 mg) into the rectum once daily, preferably in the morning or as directed by a doctor.
For children under 2 years, use only under medical advice.
Gently remove the suppository from its wrapper, moisten it with a little water, and insert the pointed end first into the rectum.
Encourage the child to hold it for as long as possible to allow the medicine to work effectively.
Each suppository is for single use only.

Side effects:
Laxocodyl is generally safe when used as directed.
Occasional mild side effects include abdominal cramps or local irritation.
Overuse or long-term use may lead to diarrhea, dehydration, or dependence on laxatives.
Seek medical attention if severe abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, or rectal bleeding occurs.

Precautions:
Do not use if the child has intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, dehydration, or abdominal pain of unknown cause.
