Use:
This medication is used to control blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and weight loss alone are insufficient.
Claz MR helps the body release insulin more effectively, improving overall blood sugar control.
It may be prescribed alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetic medicines such as metformin or DPP-4 inhibitors.

How it works:
The active ingredient, gliclazide, is a sulfonylurea that stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin and enhances the sensitivity of tissues to insulin.
This helps lower blood sugar levels throughout the day.
The modified-release (MR) formulation ensures the medicine is released slowly and evenly, providing prolonged glucose control while reducing the risk of sudden hypoglycemia.

Dosage and administration:
The usual starting dose is 30 mg or 60 mg once daily, taken with breakfast.
If needed, your doctor may gradually increase the dose up to 120 mg once daily, depending on your blood glucose response.
Swallow the tablet whole with water — do not crush or chew it.
It is important to take Claz MR at the same time each day and not to skip meals after taking it.

Side effects:
Claz MR is generally well tolerated.
The most common side effect is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially if meals are missed or delayed.
Symptoms may include sweating, trembling, dizziness, or hunger.
Other mild side effects include nausea, headache, or digestive discomfort.
Rarely, skin allergies or liver enzyme changes may occur.

Precautions:
