Daktarin Cream 30 gm

Medication name: Daktarin Cream contains Miconazole nitrate (2%), a broad-spectrum antifungal agent used for treating fungal and yeast infections of the skin.

Each tube contains 30 grams of cream for external use only.

Drug class: Topical antifungal / Antimicrobial

Use: Daktarin is used to treat athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), ringworm (tinea corporis), jock itch (tinea cruris), fungal infections of the hands, and skin infections caused by Candida (yeast).

It helps relieve symptoms like itching, redness, burning, and scaling.

How it works: Miconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes.

This damages the membrane structure, leading to leakage of cell contents and death of the fungus.

It also has mild antibacterial activity against certain Gram-positive bacteria that can complicate fungal infections.

Dosage and administration:

• Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying the cream.

• Apply a thin layer of Daktarin Cream to the affected skin and surrounding area twice daily (morning and night).

• Continue treatment for at least 10 days after symptoms disappear to prevent recurrence.

• Wash hands after application.

Side effects: Common side effects include mild burning, redness, or irritation at the site of application. Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or swelling may occur.

Precautions:

• For external use only.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or open wounds.

• Do not use on broken or severely inflamed skin unless prescribed.

• Consult a doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding before use.

• Stop using if severe irritation or allergic reaction occurs.

Storage: Store below 25 °C, in a cool, dry place, protected from sunlight and out of reach of children.
