Use
Glucophage is used to help control blood sugar levels in adults and adolescents with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
It is prescribed alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise to improve blood sugar control and reduce the risk of long-term complications such as kidney, nerve, or heart problems.

How it works
Glucophage contains Metformin, which lowers blood sugar by reducing glucose production in the liver and improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin.
It also enhances glucose uptake by muscles, helping the body use sugar more effectively.
Unlike some other antidiabetic medications, it does not stimulate insulin secretion, making the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) very low.

Dosage and administration
The usual starting dose is one 500 mg tablet taken once or twice daily with meals to reduce stomach upset.
