Medication name: Ridon Oral Solution 1 mg/mL (100 mL bottle) contains the active ingredient Risperidone, which belongs to the class of atypical antipsychotic medications.

Use: This medication is prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia, mania associated with bipolar disorder, and short-term management of aggression or behavioral disturbances in certain patients, such as those with Alzheimer’s dementia or conduct disorder in children (aged 5 years and older) and adolescents.

How it works: Risperidone works by balancing dopamine and serotonin activity in the brain, helping to improve mood, behavior, and thought processes while reducing symptoms such as agitation, hallucinations, and disorganized thinking.

Dosage and administration: Each 1 mL of the oral solution contains 1 mg of Risperidone.

The dose is individualized and prescribed by a doctor based on the patient’s condition and response to treatment.

The solution should be measured accurately using the provided dosing syringe or cup. It can be taken with or without food, as directed by the physician.

Side effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, weight gain, increased appetite, tremor, restlessness, nausea, constipation, headache, and sleep disturbances.

Some patients may also experience hormonal changes, such as elevated prolactin levels, which can affect menstruation or cause breast tenderness.

Precautions: Ridon should be used cautiously in patients with heart disease, liver or kidney problems, or Parkinson’s disease.
