Rumafen gel 1% 50 gm

Medication name: Rumafen Gel 1% (50 g) contains Diclofenac sodium (1%), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) formulated as a topical gel for local relief of pain, inflammation, and swelling in muscles and joints.

Drug class: Topical NSAID / Analgesic and anti-inflammatory

Use: Rumafen Gel is used to relieve musculoskeletal pain associated with:

• Muscle sprains, strains, and sports injuries

• Back, neck, and shoulder pain

• Tendonitis, bursitis, and soft tissue inflammation

• Joint pain due to osteoarthritis or rheumatism

How it works: Diclofenac works by blocking the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which decreases the production of prostaglandins, substances responsible for pain, swelling, and inflammation.

Applied topically, it provides targeted relief directly at the affected site with minimal systemic absorption.

Dosage and administration:

• Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected area 3–4 times daily.

• Gently massage until fully absorbed.

• Wash hands after use (unless treating hands).

• Do not apply to broken, infected, or irritated skin.

• Avoid covering with airtight dressings unless directed by a doctor.

Side effects: Common side effects include mild redness, itching, or irritation at the application site. Rarely, rash, allergic reaction, or photosensitivity may occur.

Precautions:

• For external use only.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and open wounds.

• Do not use with other topical NSAIDs or oral anti-inflammatory drugs without medical advice.

• Avoid exposing treated areas to direct sunlight or tanning lamps.

• Not recommended during the last trimester of pregnancy.

• Consult a doctor before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, or have asthma, ulcers, or liver/kidney issues.
