Medication name: Curasept ADS Gel 0.5% (30 mL) contains Chlorhexidine digluconate (0.5%), a topical antiseptic oral gel formulated to control plaque, bacteria, and inflammation in the mouth and gums.

Use: Curasept ADS Gel is used for the prevention and treatment of gingivitis (gum inflammation), periodontal disease, and mouth ulcers.

It is also recommended for post-surgical oral care, orthodontic appliance irritation, and localized gum infections.

How it works: Chlorhexidine digluconate acts by binding to bacterial cell walls, causing leakage of cell contents and bacterial death.

It provides a prolonged antibacterial effect that helps reduce plaque formation, prevent reinfection, and promote gum healing.

The ADS (Anti-Discoloration System) in Curasept minimizes the tooth staining commonly associated with chlorhexidine use.

Dosage and administration:

• Apply a small amount of gel directly to the affected area using a clean finger or a soft brush.

• Use 2–3 times daily after brushing and rinsing.

• Do not rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes after application to ensure full effectiveness.

• Suitable for short-term or localized use as advised by a dentist.

Side effects: Common side effects include temporary alteration of taste, mild gum irritation, or tooth staining (greatly reduced with ADS formula).

Rarely, allergic reactions may occur.
