Fastum Gel 50 g

Medication name: Fastum Gel 50 g contains Ketoprofen (2.5%), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) formulated for topical relief of muscle and joint pain, swelling, and inflammation.

Use: Fastum Gel is used to treat pain and inflammation caused by:

• Muscle strains, sprains, and sports injuries

• Tendonitis, bursitis, and back pain

• Joint pain and stiffness from osteoarthritis or rheumatism

• Localized soft tissue inflammation or trauma

How it works: Ketoprofen works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing the formation of prostaglandins, which are responsible for pain, redness, and swelling.

The gel base allows deep skin penetration, providing targeted relief directly to the affected area with minimal systemic effects.

Dosage and administration:

• Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected area 1–2 times daily.

• Gently massage until fully absorbed.

• Wash hands after application (unless treating hands).

• Do not apply to broken or infected skin.

• Avoid covering with airtight dressings unless instructed by a doctor.

Side effects: Common side effects include mild redness, itching, or irritation at the site of application.

Rarely, photosensitivity reactions (skin rash on sun exposure) or allergic reactions may occur.

Precautions:

• For external use only.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.

• Do not use on open wounds or eczema.

• Avoid direct sunlight or UV exposure on treated skin during and after treatment.

• Not recommended during the last trimester of pregnancy.

• Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, or have asthma, ulcers, or kidney/liver conditions.
