Use:
This medication is used for the treatment of sudden (acute) or long-lasting (chronic) diarrhea.
It helps reduce stool frequency, restore stool consistency, and relieve discomfort caused by bowel hyperactivity.
The instant melt form is ideal for quick relief when swallowing water is inconvenient, such as during travel.

How it works:
The active ingredient, loperamide, works by acting on the opioid receptors in the intestinal wall.
It slows down intestinal movement, allowing more time for water and electrolytes to be absorbed from the stool.
This results in firmer stools and fewer bowel movements without stopping the natural bowel process entirely.

Dosage and administration:
For adults, the usual starting dose is two tablets (4 mg), followed by one tablet (2 mg) after each loose stool.
Do not exceed eight tablets (16 mg) per day.
Place the tablet on your tongue and allow it to dissolve — no water is required.
If symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor.
Not recommended for children under 12 years old.

Side effects:
Imodium Instant Melt is generally well tolerated.
Possible mild side effects include constipation, stomach pain, dry mouth, drowsiness, or nausea.
Serious but rare reactions include allergic swelling, abdominal distension, or irregular heartbeat.
Seek medical attention immediately if you experience any severe or persistent symptoms.

Precautions:
Do not use in cases of bacterial infections causing diarrhea (such as Salmonella or Clostridium difficile), or if there is blood in the stool or high fever.
Avoid use if allergic to loperamide or any other component of the tablet.
