Proxen 500 mg 20 Tablets

Medication name: Proxen 500 mg Tablets contain the active ingredient Naproxen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation.

Each pack includes 20 tablets for oral use.

Use: Proxen is prescribed for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, muscle and joint pain, back pain, menstrual cramps, toothache, and postoperative pain.

It helps reduce swelling, stiffness, and discomfort, improving mobility and daily function.

How it works: Naproxen works by blocking the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins substances that cause inflammation, pain, and fever.

By reducing prostaglandin levels, Proxen provides effective pain relief and inflammation control.

Dosage and administration: The usual adult dose is 250–500 mg twice daily, preferably taken with food or milk to reduce stomach irritation.

Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest possible duration.

Side effects: Common side effects include indigestion, nausea, heartburn, stomach pain, dizziness, headache, and fatigue.

Less commonly, it may cause fluid retention, rash, or elevated liver enzymes.

Precautions: Proxen should be used cautiously in patients with stomach ulcers, heart disease, high blood pressure, liver or kidney impairment, or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding. It is not recommended during late pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Avoid alcohol and other NSAIDs while using Proxen.

Storage: Store at room temperature (below 25 °C), in a dry place, protected from moisture and light, and keep out of the reach of children.
