Rofenac Gel 50 g

Medication name: Rofenac Gel 50 g contains Diclofenac sodium (1%), a topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the local relief of pain, swelling, and inflammation in muscles and joints.

Use: Rofenac Gel is used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with:

• Muscle strains and sprains

• Back, neck, or shoulder pain

• Tendonitis and bursitis

• Joint pain from osteoarthritis or rheumatism

• Sports injuries and soft tissue inflammation

How it works: Diclofenac works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are responsible for pain, swelling, and inflammation.

Applied topically, it penetrates the skin to deliver targeted relief directly to the affected area with minimal systemic absorption.

Dosage and administration:

• Apply a small amount (2–4 g) of gel to the affected area 3–4 times daily.

• Gently massage until fully absorbed.

• Wash hands after application (unless treating hands).

• Do not apply to broken, infected, or inflamed skin.

• Avoid covering the area with airtight dressings unless advised by a doctor.

Side effects: Common side effects include mild skin irritation, redness, itching, or dryness at the site of application.

Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or swelling may occur.

Precautions:

• For external use only.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or open wounds.

• Do not use with other NSAID-containing products.

• Avoid direct sunlight on treated skin to reduce risk of photosensitivity.

• Not recommended during the last trimester of pregnancy.

• Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, or have asthma, ulcers, or kidney/liver disease.
