Medication name: Sapofen-Junior Syrup 145 ml
Drug class: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) contains ibuprofen
Use: This medication is used in children to relieve mild to moderate pain such as teething pain, sore throat, toothache, earache, or headache. It is also used to reduce fever associated with colds, flu, or other infections.
How it works: The active ingredient, ibuprofen, works by inhibiting the body’s production of prostaglandins substances that cause inflammation, pain, and fever.
By blocking these chemicals, ibuprofen helps to lower body temperature and ease pain and inflammation.
Dosage and administration: Shake the bottle well before each use. Each 5 ml of syrup contains 100 mg of ibuprofen. The recommended dose depends on the child’s weight and age.
For example, children aged 1–2 years may take 2.5 ml every 6–8 hours as needed, while those aged 3–7 years may take 5 ml every 6–8 hours. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours, and always leave at least 6 hours between doses.
The syrup can be taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset.
Always use the provided measuring syringe or cup.
Side effects: Ibuprofen is generally well tolerated in children.
Possible side effects include mild stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or heartburn.
Rarely, more serious reactions such as allergic rash, swelling of the face or throat, breathing difficulty, or gastrointestinal bleeding can occur.
Stop use and seek medical advice if any unusual symptoms appear.
Precautions: Do not use in children who are allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, or other NSAIDs.
Avoid using if the child has stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, severe dehydration, kidney problems, or asthma triggered by NSAIDs.
Consult a doctor before use in children under 6 months of age or if the child is taking other medications such as anticoagulants or corticosteroids.
Storage: Store below 25 °C, away from direct heat and sunlight. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
