Use
Trajenta is used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
It is prescribed as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan that includes diet and exercise.
It may be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin.

How it works
Trajenta contains Linagliptin, which belongs to a class of medications known as DPP-4 inhibitors.
It works by increasing the levels of natural hormones called incretins that regulate blood sugar.
These hormones help the pancreas release more insulin after meals and reduce glucose production by the liver.
This leads to smoother and more stable blood sugar control throughout the day.

Dosage and administration
The usual recommended dose is one 5 mg tablet taken once daily, with or without food.
It can be taken at any time of the day, but it should be taken at the same time each day for best results.
The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and not crushed or chewed.

Side effects
Most people tolerate Trajenta well.
Common side effects may include mild respiratory symptoms such as cough, sore throat, or nasal congestion.
In rare cases, joint pain, allergic reactions, or pancreatitis may occur.
When used with other blood sugar–lowering medications such as sulfonylureas or insulin, hypoglycemia can sometimes develop.
