The drug belongs to a class of medicines called protein kinase inhibitors. It works by suppressing the action of proteins that are involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells.

• It is used in adults to treat:
• Kidney cancer that is advanced or has spread to other organs.
• certain forms of soft tissue sarcoma, a type of cancer that affects the body’s supporting tissue. It can occur in muscles, blood vessels, fatty tissue, or other tissues that support, surround, or protect organs.

How to use:

• The recommended dose is two 400mg tablets (800mg pazopanib) taken once daily. This is the maximum daily dose. Your doctor may reduce your dose if you experience side effects.

Side Effects:

• Brain swelling
• Hypertensive crisis
• Heart disease
• Cardiac dysfunction/heart failure, heart attack
• Change in heart rhythm (QT prolongation)
