Nexavar is used to treat liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma ) .

- Nexavar is also used to treat advanced kidney cancer ( advanced renal cell carcinoma ) where standard treatment has failed to stop the disease or is considered unsuitable.

- Nexavar is used to treat thyroid cancer ( differentiated thyroid carcinoma) .

- Nexavar is a so-called multikinase inhibitor.

- It works by slowing the growth rate of cancer cells and by cutting off the blood supply that allows the cancer cells to grow.
How To Use:

- Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.

- Contact a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
The recommended dose of Nexavar for adults is:
-
- 2 tablets of 200 mg twice a day .
-
- This corresponds to a daily dose of 800 mg or four tablets daily.

- Swallow Nexavar tablets with a glass of water , either without a meal, or with a meal that contains little or moderate amounts of fat.

- Do not take the tablets with a high-fat meal, as this may make Nexavar less effective.

- If you are going to eat a high-fat meal, you must take the tablets at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meal.

- It is important to take this medicine at about the same time each day so that there is an even amount in the bloodstream.

- You will usually continue to take this medicine as long as you benefit from the treatment and are not bothered by unacceptable side effects.
If you take too much Nexavar:
-
- Consult a doctor immediately if you (or someone else) have taken more than the prescribed dose. If you take too much Nexavar, you are likely to get more or serious side effects, especially diarrhea and skin reactions.

- Your doctor may ask you to stop taking this medicine.
If you have forgotten to take Nexavar:
-
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as normal.

- You should not take a double dose to replace a missed dose.

- The active substance is sorafenib. Each film-coated tablet contains 200 mg of sorafenib (as tosylate).

- Nexavar 200 mg film-coated tablets are red and round, with a Bayer cross on one side and “200” on the other side.
- They are available in calendar packs of 112 tablets, in four transparent blister trays with 28 tablets in each blister tray.
