Medication name: Dicetel Pinaverium Bromide 50 mg 20 Tablets
Drug class: Antispasmodic (calcium channel blocker for the gastrointestinal tract)
Use:
This medication is used to relieve abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and discomfort caused by irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other gastrointestinal disorders involving intestinal spasms.
It helps regulate bowel movements and reduces the sensitivity of the digestive tract to stress or irregular contractions.
How it works:
The active ingredient, pinaverium bromide, works by blocking calcium channels in the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract.
This prevents excessive muscle contractions (spasms) in the intestines and bile ducts, easing abdominal pain and bloating.
By acting locally in the digestive system, it relieves discomfort without affecting normal bowel activity.
Dosage and administration:
The usual adult dose is one tablet (50 mg) taken two or three times daily, preferably before meals.
Swallow the tablet whole with water — do not crush, chew, or take with hot liquids, as this may irritate the throat or reduce effectiveness.
Continue the medication as prescribed by your doctor, and do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
Side effects:
Dicetel is generally well tolerated.
Occasional side effects may include nausea, bloating, mild abdominal discomfort, or dry mouth.
Rarely, allergic skin reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling may occur.
If you experience difficulty breathing, chest tightness, or persistent discomfort, stop using the medicine and seek medical attention.
Precautions:
Do not use if allergic to pinaverium bromide or any of the ingredients.
Consult your doctor before use if you have swallowing difficulties, esophageal diseases, or liver problems.
Avoid taking this medicine with food or milk — always take with water.
It is not recommended for children unless prescribed by a doctor.
Safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only under medical supervision.
Storage:
Store below 25 °C in a dry place, away from heat and direct sunlight.
Keep tablets in their original packaging until use.
Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date printed on the box.
